In fact, the USA is home to approximately Fifty of the top two hundred colleges in the world.

Universities in the USA are also known for countless patents and ground-breaking discoveries, providing students with the opportunity to study and compete with some of the best minds in their respective professions.

Because the United States offers a wide range of research-focused science and technology courses and allows applicants to apply to a number of disciplines of study, hopefuls compete to be admitted there.

Due to its 4,000 authorised schools and universities, which provide a wide range of programmes to pursue a bachelor’s or master’s in the USA, the country has become the most popular choice of study destination for international students. Excellent support services are provided by the nation for international students who wish to study in the USA. Numerous students are attracted by its highly flexible educational structure and reputation for dedication to quality on a global scale. International students can easily adapt into American culture thanks to the nation’s dynamic and diversified culture and its mixed-race population.

Why Study in USA?

The best learning environments, cutting-edge technology, and outstanding programmes in many sectors are just a few of the factors that make the USA one of the top study abroad destinations. Overseas students may qualify for full or partial tuition waivers, study internships, teaching assistantships, graduate internship opportunities, paid apprenticeships, or part-time employment opportunities as forms of financial aid. After graduation, students can apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT), which gives them the opportunity to work for 12- to 36-months in the field of their choice. After completing a four-year degree, the median wage in the US is $61,000, with a mid-career salary of $1,20,000. The price of education in the USA varies according to the degree level, such as a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD. The price varies depending on whether the institution is public or private. The annual tuition for a bachelor’s degree can range from $15,000 to $55,000, while the annual tuition for a master’s degree can range from $15,000 to $30,000. International students can minimise their cost of attendance in the US by receiving financial aid and institutional awards based on their high academic and standardised test performance.

Eligibility Criteria for study in USA

International students must take competitive exams like the SAT, GMAT, TOEFL, and GRE in order to continue their higher education in the USA. In addition, students who wish to pursue subject-specific coursework must pass tests like the PCAT, MCAT, DAT and VCAT.

GMAT – The Graduate Management Admission Test is offered by people looking to enrol in business or management-related courses or an MBA. The candidates are evaluated on their thinking, math, and English skills.

GRE – The Graduate Record Examination is also needed by applicants to graduate institutions pursuing an MA or MS. Additionally, many business schools utilise GRE results in selecting who gets admitted to take MBA, business, or management courses.

LSAT – The Law School Admission Test is a standard test for candidates admission to law schools. The reading and verbal reasoning abilities of the students are examined.

SAT – The Scholastic Assessment Test examines applicants based on their proficiency in the reading and writing skills necessary for academic success in higher education. This exam evaluates the candidates’ problem-solving abilities—skills they learnt in school and will use going forward in college. In order to be admitted to UG courses, students who have finished their formal education or those in high school typically take the SAT exam.

TOEFL – The majority of American universities recognise it as the most common test of English competence. The TOEFL assesses students’ knowledge of proficiency in the English language as it is used in academic contexts such as colleges and universities. This exam is open to unlimited attempts. The Educational Testing Service (ETS), which conducts the test and creates the test paper, is in charge of giving it.

What after Study?

After graduation, many students prefer to stay in the nation where they studied. In addition to the fact that there are probably better chances for you there, you have fallen in love with the culture, people, weather, and way of thinking there.

However, the hiring procedure for overseas students can be confusing. Additionally, it might be challenging to secure visas in the US.

Process

  1. 1) Plan Early. Choose 5-8 universities and determine which type of application they accept. Many universities use the Common Application or the Coalition Application, and some require you to apply directly to the school.
  2. 2) US universities value extracurricular activities. Choose activities you are passionate about and aim for leadership positions within them.
  3. 3) Good grades and SAT/ACT scores are still one of the most important parts of your application.
  4. 4) The US personal essay isn’t the same as the UK personal statement. The UK universities are looking for subject-focused content, while US universities want you to tell a compelling story and showcase your personality.
  5. 5) Applying early has advantages. Applying early can increase your chance of acceptance to many top schools. However, you can only apply early to one university, and the decision is binding. Only apply early to a school you’re 100% sure you want to attend.
  6. 6) It’s ok to be unsure of your major. You can mark “undecided” on most US university applications.
  7. 7) Don’t forget the application fee. It’s typically between $75-100 USD.
  8. 8) Acceptance isn’t conditional. If you’re accepted, you’re in!

The US application process can be complicated, and some universities, like MIT and any of the University of California schools, do not use the Common Application. Others have unique requirements beyond the general application. Universities will go into detail about their requirements on their websites. Carefully read the entire application requirements before you get started.
