Dubai – city and capital of the emirate of Dubai, one of the wealthiest of the seven emirates that constitute the federation of the United Arab Emirates. Dubai is the second largest emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), after the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which is located to its south. Dubai has the highest population density in the UAE. Known as the “capital of UAE’s economy”, Dubai, one of the fastest growing cities in the world, is its key financial and trading hub. Dubai’s fast growing knowledge-based and services economy soon matched and almost replaced its revenue from oil.

Eligibility Criteria to study in Dubai

There are many Universities and Colleges where International Students can choose to study, but they should meet the admission requirements:

  • 1) A valid passport. 
  • 2) Recent twelve passport-sized photographs with white background. 
  • 3) Admission Offer Letter received from UAE university. 
  • 4) Students Bank statement for the verification of funds.
  • 5) A tenancy agreement. If a student does not have any, he must get a letter from university if he will be staying in the University Accommodation.
  • 6) Copy of tuition fee receipt for the current year of the study program
  • 7) Copy of visa fee receipt for the current year of the study program
  • 8) Post-graduate students need to show proof of their undergraduate degree

Once the student reaches Dubai, he needs to undergo a medical test from an authorized medical centre. The test generally includes a medical and chest X-ray for HIV, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, Leprosy, Syphilis and Tuberculosis.

What after Study?

Under the current visa norm, the international students studying in the United Arab Emirates are now qualified for a five-year student visa, replacing the one-year visa term. The silver lining is, if you are excel exceptionally in your studies in Dubai then you will be eligible for a 10-year residency while remaining students can get a five-year visa. The dependents of the applicant will receive a visa extension in order to help them to begin their careers after graduating. Professional Specialists, such as doctors and engineers are also eligible for a 10-year residency visa.

The Dubai work visa is generally referred to as the “Residence permit for employment”. Under the visa, the eligible applicants aspiring to work in Dubai in the private sector can stay up to three years. Eligible applicants must provide a range of evidence to substantiate their application including medical certificate. Universities in Dubai are blessed with the Career Services Center who solely functions to inform you about the job opportunity with one of the 4,500 companies located across Dubai’s creative clusters. Upon securing a valid job o­ffer from Dubai Employer, then that employer should apply for a Student Part-Time Employment Permit on your behalf. You must Sign the agreement – Standards of Student Part-Time Employment form with the Employer. The form will be submitted by your employer along with the Permit application. If your application for Student Part-Time Employment Permit is successful, then you will receive notification through email.

Process

  1. 1) Research Your Options: Before you shortlist the universities/institutes, decide what you want to study, where you want to live, overall cost, various opportunities etc.

 

  1. 2) Select Universities/Institutes: Shortlist the universities/Institutes & study programs that meet your requirements.

 

  1. 3) Prepare for entrance exams: Prepare for the standardized tests like TOEFL/IELTS etc. based on the requirements of the universities. Register for these tests in advance. You should complete these tests before few months of the intake.

 

  • 4) Finance your studies: Ensure that you have the money ready for your entire period of study in Dubai along with accommodation, local travel, food, and other miscellaneous expenses.

 

  • 5) Apply to university: Every University has its own admission requirements. Complete the applications well before deadlines. We can help you in choosing the right Institute and provide guidance on application process

  1. 6) Confirm admission: Once you get your acceptance letters from the universities that you have applied to, choose the university you would like to study at.

 

  1. 7) Get Student Visa: Once you get admission confirmation done, you can apply for your student visa (entry permit) through the sponsor (University/ Parent/Relative). Your Sponsor need to apply for a residence visa once you enter the country.

Student visa will be issued for 1 year and can be extended as per the course duration. Any student staying more than 6 months outside Dubai, will make his visa invalid.
